Rotthege Wassermann and Partner hosted the 4th M & A International Lawyers Conference in Berlin. The conference chaired by Dr. Andreas Lachmann took place from September 7 to 9, 2007 at the hotel Sofitel Berlin Schweizerhof.

A wide variety of areas were discussed such as the Financing of M&A Transactions in relation to the Debt Load, Public Financing and Acquisitions and Management Buy-outs in the Time of Shareholders’ Activism. All topics were exceptionally well received and provided the source for some useful and interesting debate amongst participants.

The conference was supplemented by a social program that saw delegates dine at a picturesque local restaurant on the Friday, with a boat tour to the Schloss Cecilienhof, home of the Potsdam Conference, providing the entertainment and dining on the Saturday night. This was followed on Sunday by a guided tour of the Reichstag and the new government district in Berlin.

About 70 lawyers representatives of firms from all over Europe attended the conference. Among the different speakers we can mention the brilliant performance of Mr. Thomas Riise of the firm Lassen Ricard.

As in previous years, the conference was deemed to be a great success by all those who took part and provided a splendid opportunity to listen to and meet with some of the foremost M&A specialists from across Europe.

The first M & A International Lawyers Conference took place in Düsseldorf in 2004. In 2005 and 2006 conferences followed in Krakow and Paris. In 2008 the M&A International Lawyers Conference will take place in Brussels.
