 | | Pre-salt oil regulation in Brazil is causing turmoil among the Brazilian authorities. Technology transfer is one of the main issues in order to determine whether foreign companies active in Brazil should have the right to get involved in this industry.
The government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is strongly against this option. In fact, they want Petrobras as the head of operations. Their view is that if Petrobras becomes the sole operator in this business, this will bring higher benefits to the country including the optimization of infrastructures, as well as important financial gains.
Either ways, the Brazilian infrastructure sector must be prepared to face the demands of this industry, especially if Petrobras becomes the main player.
In this sense, Emerenciano, Baggio e Associados, because of their extensive experience in this sector, were consulted by over 13 companies from Brazil, the USA, Europe and India concerning business opportunities related to pre-salt oil.
Fernando Henrique Cunha, Senior Partner at the firm, recommends resorting to legal assistance for everything that concerns contracts, projects management and communications between the parties. This consists in the best strategy to mitigate risks, insure profitability and create reliable relationship with the other parties involved.
