 | | This year, Lawrope Annual General Meeting took place in Brussels and was combined with the M&A Conference which was organized by two Lawrope member firms: Rotthegue Wassermann & Partner and Demolin Brulard Barthelemy. In total, the two events brought together more than 70 participants coming from al over the world.
This meeting was full of novelties including the nomination of a new President, Mr. Hans de Crom of the firm Rijppaert & Peeters from the Netherlands, who will be in charge of the group's leadership for the period 2008-2010.
A new member has also joined the group. The firm Freeman, Freeman and Smiley from Los Angeles, USA becomes Lawrope representative member on the West Coast of the United States. Since its inception in 1976, Freeman, Freeman & Smiley, LLP offers legal services to local, national and international clients from its offices located in Los Angeles, CA and Irvine, CA. The firm serves a diverse client base that ranges from individuals to public and private companies at various stages of development from start-up to Fortune 500.
The core practice of the firm divides into four main areas: a Real Estate Industry Group, a Business Transactions and Tax Planning Group, a Litigation Group and an Estate Planning Group (more information available at http://www.ffslaw.com/).
The representative Partner of the firm, Mr. Bruce Smiley was present at the meeting and received a warm welcome following several months of contacts with the group.
Lawrope members have also approved new Statutes, as well as a new series of measures oriented towards further expansion in Europe and beyond. Specialists group have also been created in five areas to facilitate collaboration and the exchange of knowledge among the different member countries. Finally, an international training exchange program has been put in place to allow lawyers and trainees of the different member firms to work abroad at another Lawrope office for a certain period of time.
All these new initiatives clearly demonstrate Lawrope's interest to provide a better integrated network for the greater benefit of its clients. |
